This cleanser has been around since the early 90s! and has gone through MANY incarnations since that time... It used to be called 'Foaming Face Wash' and came in a scented & unscented formula over the years, there was also a third version that said "with Aloe..." This was also when OLAY was called 'OIL OF OLAY'... the 'Oil of' was dropped in late 1997 I believe.
Anyway, this is a superb, water-soluble cleanser that fulfills its purpose in gently cleansing the skin whilst at the same time, taking off all the makeup (including waterproof makeup), sunscreen and daily grime, all-in-ONE step! No need for double cleansing! This cleanser produces a rich, frothy lather that cleans beautifully, rinses quickly and without a hint of residue. Skin is left feeling clean, soft, supple and beautifully cushioned.
I'd say this cleanser is more for the Normal to Oily, Combination skin person. Dry or Sensitive skins might find this a tad drying on its own so if preferred, go in first (assuming you're o.k with double cleansing) to remove makeup & sunscreen with a water-soluble cleansing oil, like 'Neutrogena's Ultra Light Cleansing Oil', then follow with this foaming cleanser from OLAY. This will ensure you get a beautiful cleanse with no dryness or irritation.
This cleanser can be massaged onto the face with just the fingertips and hands or if you prefer, any gentle cleansing tool of your choice like the old-school round, yellow, cellulose cleansing sponges or a soft washcloth.
It is a 100% Soap-Free formula which is important, mild synthetic detergent cleansing agents are used which makes this cleanser non-alkaline, non-drying, and non-stripping!
It has a cushiony, pearlescent gel texture that easily comes out of the handy, convenient pump and works well in either soft or hard water. Quite concentrated I have to say, only a small amount is needed to produce a generous foamy lather.
Overall, this is a mild, gentle, yet thorough cleanser that gives an immaculate clean while respecting the skin's acid mantle as it is pH balanced.
I'd recommend this cleanser to anyone who is seeking a gentle, yet thorough cleanser at the drugstore price range.
