Having worked in product formulation, I know that the ingredient 'fragrance" is a secret, industry name for toxic preservative chemicals, used to make fragrance last.
Scientists were so shocked they actually went before the FDA to let everyone know that the chemical preservatives companies wanted to use for fragrances in products, should not be allowed, due to how extremely toxic they are.
But the FDA agreed to let the companies use the fragrance preservatives anyway. The FDA also allowed them to use the word 'fragrance' on the label instead of the name of the actual preservative chemicals. This is 100% true, just google it.
The ewg site doesn't have doesn't have "fragrance" on the ingredients list for this item, however it's on this package and this website. This is disturbing and confusing. I'm happy to update this review if there's an honest explanation.
When I copied and pasted the list of ingredients in the "create your own report" section of the ewg website, the result is #5 for toxicity, with 'fragrance' as the worst chemical, rated #8. I would never have bought this had I known, I avoid applying toxic chemicals on my body as much as I can.
Otherwise, the scent is nice, and although somehow, I just don't really enjoy using this bar shampoo, it's great for travel, and leaves my hair soft.
